Eric is a native of Bradenton, Florida. His father, in the Gospel, is the late Evangelist Elmo Rountree.

He is a graduate of Southwestern Christian College (SWCC), and David Lipscomb University where he majored in Communications and, minored in Religious Education and also a graduate of Amridge University Montgomery, Alabama, where he completed his Masters Degree in Marriage Family Therapy. He is a licensed Prepare & Enrich Marriage Consultant and has preached across the country and on foreign soil conducting meetings, workshops, lectures, symposiums, and conferences. He was a former Care Consultant For New Pathways For Children (NPFC) Melber, Kentucky and has been the pulpit minister for congregations in Bradenton, Florida; Dallas, Texas; Paducah, Kentucky; Enterprise, Alabama; Tampa, Florida; Kevil, Kentucky; and Spencer, Oklahoma where he served the Spencer Church of Christ until his calling to the Liberty City Church of Christ in Miami, Florida. He was also a counselor for Premier Behavioral Health and Therapeutic Services & Specialized Outpatient Services in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He is married to Lana J. Doss and privileged to be the father of three beautiful princesses: Marquita, Elantra and Nykki.
